WILLIAM BENNETT: We must listen to the Founding Fathers and reject antisemitism

Fox News · 3 hours ago

In a Fox News opinion piece, conservative commentator William Bennett argues that Americans must confront rising antisemitism, which he says has intensified since the 11 September 2001 attacks and been fuelled further by the radical socialist left. He cites New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani's description of AIPAC as "monsters", the Democratic Socialists of America's adoption of anti-Zionism as a membership litmus test, and streamer Hasan Piker's warning that action could be taken against American Jews, arguing these attitudes have real-world consequences and demand a response from American Christians in particular.

Bennett points to FBI data showing anti-Jewish hate crimes now make up 63% of all religion-based hate crimes despite Jews comprising roughly 2% of the US population, and references a March incident in which a man drove a truck into a Michigan synagogue, which Democratic Senate nominee Abdul El-Sayed described as "hurt people hurt people." He argues that Judeo-Christian values underpin American founding principles, citing George Washington's 1790 letter to Newport's Jewish congregation affirming Jews' "inherent natural rights," and rejects the claim that anti-Zionism is distinct from antisemitism, saying hatred directed at Jews and Israel violates America's founding promises.
