## Key points

- The Lions are using Jack Campbell’s example to guide their preparations.
- Defensive coordinator Kelvin Sheppard says the team should “play like 46”.
- Campbell has reported lower-body movement after his neck injury.

## Summary

Jack Campbell’s frightening neck injury during Sunday’s game has left Detroit Lions defenders shaken, but defensive coordinator Kelvin Sheppard says the team is drawing inspiration from their captain as it prepares to continue the season. He has urged players to honour Campbell by preparing and playing with the same commitment he shows.

Sheppard said the message is to “play like 46”, Campbell’s shirt number, and recalled calling an unusual fourth-down blitz against Minnesota with that intention. Campbell has since reported lower-body movement, though he has acknowledged challenges; the article says the team’s prayers continue as it tries to face the uncertainty and return to football.
