Wisconsin Democrat downplays appearing on Hasan Piker’s show, doesn’t ‘endorse’ everything he says

Fox News · 1 month ago

Wisconsin state representative and Democratic gubernatorial candidate Francesca Hong has sought to distance herself from far-left Twitch streamer Hasan Piker, less than two weeks after appearing on his livestream in a broadcast that doubled as a fundraiser for her campaign. Speaking on "MS NOW Reports", Hong said appearing on such platforms did not mean she endorsed everything said by the hosts or other guests, stressing that streams help campaigns reach voters they might otherwise struggle to contact.

The appearance drew criticism from former Democratic Wisconsin Elections Commissioner Ann Jacobs, who accused Hong of being "willing to sell out the Jews of Wisconsin for a few bucks". Hong responded by condemning hatred, discrimination, antisemitism and Islamophobia, and argued candidates should not be held responsible for everything controversial hosts have said. She also pointed to her likely Republican opponent, Rep. Tom Tiffany, noting he had appeared on a radio show that had called for the execution of the governor of Minnesota.

  • Hong says appearing on Piker's stream is not an endorsement of his views.
  • Her livestream appearance doubled as a campaign fundraiser in late June.
  • She deflected criticism by citing her likely Republican rival's controversial radio appearance.
