Wizkid has been confirmed as the opening-night headliner for Detty December Fest 2026 in Nigeria, marking a high-profile homecoming for the Grammy-winning Afrobeats artist. His performance on 18 December will launch the festival’s two-week programme, underlining the event’s growing role in showcasing African music and attracting international attention.

The festival runs until 30 December and will add a second venue, the Pulse Stage, for emerging artists and new sounds, alongside its main Festival Stage. Last year’s inaugural event drew more than 40,000 people, while Detty December activities in Lagos were estimated to have generated ₦396.5 billion in consumer spending; further headliners are due to be announced. Wizkid’s appearance follows a relatively quiet year focused largely on collaborations, as fans await his seventh studio album.
