A 28-year-old woman has been charged with allegedly acting as a lookout and helping a gunman escape after electrician Joshua MacDonald was fatally shot in Merrylands West, Sydney, on 2 September. Police believe Mr MacDonald, who had no known organised-crime links, was mistakenly killed in a suspected gangland attack targeting people associated with the house he was visiting.

The woman, identified as PE teacher Ashleigh Ann Seeney, allegedly monitored police and helicopter movements using encrypted communications and attempted to reset her phone. She faces charges including accessory after the fact to murder, participating in a criminal group and failing to comply with a digital-evidence order; bail was granted under strict conditions but stayed pending a prosecution appeal. An 18-year-old man has already been charged with murder, while police continue examining evidence including a seized drone.
