Daniela Largo’s rescue offers hope as emergency teams continue searching for survivors amid widespread destruction, with at least 188 people confirmed dead and hundreds still missing.

The 32-year-old was freed in Pereira after firefighters spent 10 hours digging tunnels around four concrete slabs, supplying her with oxygen before reaching her from below. The 7.4-magnitude earthquake struck on Monday near San José del Palmar, causing major damage in cities including Cali and Pereira; more than 100 aftershocks have since been recorded.
