Yahya Abdul-Mateen II has responded positively to Marvel cancelling “Wonder Man” despite previously renewing it for a second Disney+ series. The decision ends the show’s immediate future, although its characters may still return elsewhere in the Marvel universe.

Abdul-Mateen, who played aspiring actor and secret superpowered figure Simon Williams, said “everything will shake out” and thanked viewers for their support. The first season began streaming in January, received a 91% Rotten Tomatoes critics’ score, and earned Abdul-Mateen an Emmy nomination; Disney announced a renewal in March, but sources said no writers’ room was opened.
