Wonder Woman Casting Rumors Heat Up as Fans Suspect James Gunn Secretly Picked Adria Arjona for the Role

IGN · 4 hours ago

Fans of the DC Universe are increasingly convinced that actress Adria Arjona has been secretly cast as Wonder Woman, despite reports earlier this year that she would play the lesser-known character Maxima in the upcoming film "Man of Tomorrow". Speculation intensified after a workout video posted by Women's Health showed Arjona training for her role and referring cryptically to "the woman I'm playing", prompting a wave of online theories that DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn is concealing a bigger reveal, similar to the surprise casting of Sadie Sink in a recent Spider-Man film.

Arjona reportedly landed her DC role in April 2026, joining a cast that includes Milly Alcock as Supergirl, Aaron Pierre as John Stewart and Xolo Maridueña as Blue Beetle, all supporting David Corenswet's Superman in the sequel due next year. Fans have also pointed to Gunn following Arjona on Instagram as far back as July 2025, months before her casting was announced, as further evidence he had already earmarked her for a significant part. Arjona has not confirmed she will play Wonder Woman, and the studio has not addressed the rumours, leaving the true nature of her casting unresolved.

  • Fans suspect Adria Arjona is secretly cast as Wonder Woman, not Maxima.
  • A cryptic workout video comment fuelled the speculation online.
  • James Gunn's past social media activity has added to fan theories.
