LoCascio explained that after learning Gambit was set to die in Episode 5, he later received a picture depicting the character as the personification of Death, accompanied by a "shush" emoji, which hinted at a possible comeback. He says he kept quiet about the character's fate for at least two years despite repeated questions from fans about whether Gambit would return.
