Nintendo has released an overview trailer for Xenoblade Chronicles 2 – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition, outlining visual upgrades and new gameplay content ahead of its 30 June 2026 release. The reissue matters because it brings the 2017 role-playing game to newer hardware with technical improvements and additions intended to encourage returning players as well as newcomers.

The Switch 2 Edition will run at 60 frames per second, support 4K in TV mode and full HD in handheld mode, and improve cutscene resolution, detail and frame rate. It also adds new Pyra and Mythra outfits that appear in both gameplay and cutscenes, Merc Assault mode allowing direct control of up to six Blades, and MOMO, a rare Blade able to switch between light and dark forms. Existing owners can buy a paid upgrade, while a physical edition is due on 1 October 2026.
