The 10-episode adaptation, produced by Sphere Media, centres on a woman in her twenties experiencing her first serious romance with her best friend's brother across multiple summers on Prince Edward Island, with casting for the male lead role still to be announced.

Nélisse, aged 26, brings recent recognition to the production after winning a Canadian Screen Award in May for her performance in the hockey-focused romance series Heated Rivalry. The series will film this summer across Prince Edward Island and Toronto, with Dane Clark and Linsey Stewart serving as showrunners. The project marks another addition to Netflix's expanding slate of Canadian original productions, which the streaming platform established domestically in 2025 and continues to develop with several other titles.
