## Key points

- Alabama’s fifth-place ranking has prompted criticism.
- Wake Forest sits 16th after four wins by 156 points.
- The article questions the committee’s consistency across teams.

## Summary

The first 2026 College Football Playoff rankings have drawn criticism, particularly for placing two-loss Alabama fifth despite a recent defeat to Tennessee. The article argues that Wake Forest has been more unfairly overlooked, raising questions about how consistently the committee judges teams across conferences.

Wake Forest is ranked 16th after winning its last four games by a combined 156 points, though its only major win, according to the article, is against Louisville. The piece compares the Demon Deacons with LSU, ranked two places higher despite one more loss and, it says, no major wins; it also questions the strength of Miami’s schedule, while noting Miami beat Wake Forest.
