Yorkshire have signed seam bowler James Taylor from Surrey on a three-year deal, with the 25-year-old set to join the White Rose county ahead of the 2027 season. The move ends a seven-year spell at the Oval for Taylor, who said he felt it was the right time in his career to take on a new challenge and expressed hope of helping Yorkshire compete for trophies.

Taylor came through Derbyshire's youth ranks, making his senior debut against a touring West Indies side in 2017 before joining Surrey in 2020, where he took 41 wickets in 19 first-class appearances. He was part of the Surrey team that won the County Championship three years in a row between 2022 and 2024. Surrey's director of men's cricket, Alec Stewart, said the club appreciated Taylor's decision to move despite numerous conversations over the past year, which had included a contract offer.
