Yoshihiro Togashi’s ‘HUNTER×HUNTER’ Vol. 39 Debuts at No. 1 on Japan Book Hot 100

Billboard · 2 hours ago

Yoshihiro Togashi's manga HUNTER×HUNTER Vol. 39 has debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Japan Book Hot 100 chart released on 9 July, its first new volume in a year and ten months. The debut is notable both for ending a lengthy gap between instalments and for coinciding with the long-running series surpassing 100 million copies in cumulative circulation, underlining its lasting popularity.

The volume topped the e-books metric, placed No. 2 in brick-and-mortar sales and No. 5 in e-commerce, amassing an overall total of more than 40,000 points — the highest weekly tally of the year. Eiichiro Oda's ONE PIECE Vol. 115 followed closely at No. 2, while Haruki Murakami's The Tale of KAHO, his first novel in three years and his first with a female protagonist, debuted at No. 3. The week also reflected the influence of Shueisha's "Natsu-Comi 2026" summer comics fair, which accounted for eight of the top 20 titles. The chart tracks the period from 29 June to 5 July.
