A fan developer has made The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind playable entirely in a web browser by compiling the open-source OpenMW engine to WebAssembly. It matters because the game runs locally in a browser tab rather than being streamed or emulated, demonstrating another way to preserve and access an older PC role-playing game.

Players can try a small free example world or connect the browser version to files from their own Morrowind installation; the files remain on the user’s device. The project supports features including shadows, water, save games and gamepads, works best in desktop Chrome, Edge or Brave, and its creator says future additions may include multiplayer.
