Boox has opened pre-orders for the Picco, a notably compact e-reader that represents the company's new approach to ePaper devices. Measuring roughly the size of a playing card with a display barely larger than four inches, this miniature device signals Boox's expansion into what it terms "Boox Tiles"—unconventional form factors designed to integrate ePaper technology into everyday life beyond traditional tablets and e-readers.

The Picco is priced from $100 and is expected to ship in November, featuring a monochrome ePaper display with 235 PPI resolution, tactile page-turn buttons, touchscreen controls, and four-way screen orientation. Despite weighing only 58 grammes, the diminutive device incorporates a magnetic ring case for smartphone attachment, an adjustable front light with warm and cool settings, and comes with 16GB of expandable storage (up to 2TB via microSD). The combination of portability and functionality, coupled with its appealing form factor, positions the Picco as an intriguing entry into Boox's experimental Tiles product line.
