Judith Fish, the 70-year-old owner of the Applecross Inn in Wester Ross, has put the popular Highland pub up for sale as she retires after nearly four decades at the helm. The Inn, a well-known stop on the North Coast 500 route that has hosted Princess Anne, is being sold for offers in the region of £1.25 million, ending Fish's tenure running one of Scotland's most celebrated hospitality venues.

Fish has run the Inn on the shore of Applecross Bay since 1989, transforming it from a traditional bar into a food and accommodation destination, work that earned her an MBE in 2019. The property's history stretches back to the early 1800s when it opened as the Temperance Hotel, and it has since featured in the Michelin Guide as early as 1911, the Good Food Guide's 100 Best Pubs, and been named BBC Countryfile Magazine's Pub of the Year. Business broker Simon Fraser described it as a "genuinely rare trophy freehold" that comes to market "once in a generation."
