Nearly 40 pro-life and faith organisations have written to senior Trump administration officials urging them to strip Planned Parenthood of its "qualified vendor" status, effectively cutting the organisation off from all federal funding. The letter, spearheaded by Students for Life, argues that mounting evidence shows Planned Parenthood has defrauded taxpayers and violated federal law, and calls for an existing audit into alleged Covid-era loan fraud to be finalised and expanded via "debarment" — an administrative route that would not require congressional approval.

The letter was addressed to Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, Attorney General Todd Blanche, Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr and Small Business Administration head Kelly Loeffler, and was announced at the GOP midterm convention in Dallas. It urges officials to build on an SBA audit launched in January into whether Planned Parenthood wrongly received some of the $88 million in Paycheck Protection Program loans across 38 centres; a finding of fraud could see the group barred from federal contracts and programmes, including Medicaid and Title X funding, for up to three years. The coalition also cites a New York Times report on poor staff conditions, an American College of Pediatricians finding on cross-sex procedures, and other allegations including trafficking of foetal tissue, noting Planned Parenthood has received more than $10.35 billion in taxpayer funds to date; Planned Parenthood has previously dismissed the SBA probe as "politically motivated".
