‘You’ve Always Been a Great Dad’: John Farnham’s Son Shares Rare Photos of Legendary Singer

Billboard · 1 hour ago

John Farnham's son James paid tribute to the veteran Australian singer with a heartfelt Father's Day message and rare family photographs, offering fans a glimpse into the private life of the "You're The Voice" star, who has largely withdrawn from public view since cancer surgery in 2022. The tribute comes amid a wave of renewed attention to Farnham's legacy, including a sold-out all-star tribute concert, an upcoming musical and a 40th anniversary reissue of his landmark album Whispering Jack.

James Farnham shared four photographs alongside his message, including one of a young John holding baby James and another of James, now a father himself, holding his son Jett. Farnham, now largely out of the spotlight following throat cancer surgery, has confirmed he can no longer sing or perform. His career remains celebrated, however, with a 120-artist tribute concert at Melbourne's Rod Laver Arena on 20 September raising funds for Head and Neck Cancer Australia, a musical premiering in Sydney on 15 November, and Whispering Jack — which sold over a million copies and spent 25 weeks at No. 1 in 1986 — being reissued by Sony Music.
