## Key points

- Acting success is still a lottery, Braff says.
- He thinks the industry is harder to break into now.
- Fake Doctors, Real Friends is returning.

## Summary

Zach Braff says breaking into acting remains highly unpredictable, even for talented and attractive performers, and believes it is harder now than when he began. His comments come in a reader interview covering his career, directing famous actors and the return of a podcast that offered listeners comfort during lockdown.

Braff began auditioning at 14 but had little work for years, and says he knows many gifted actors who have not yet found success. He says directors should give stars such as Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine and Harrison Ford a clear plan rather than act starstruck. He also described daydreaming about turning Garden State into a musical using its soundtrack, and recalled guest roles in Arrested Development and BoJack Horseman.
