## Summary

Volodymyr Zelensky visited Madrid on 4 November to discuss strengthening Ukraine’s air defences and Spanish-Ukrainian defence cooperation. The trip comes amid a renewed US effort to broker peace between Kyiv and Moscow, with Zelensky saying he was also coordinating with US partners on security and next steps towards peace.

Zelensky was expected to meet Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez and other leaders at the Ibero-American Summit. Spain has provided Ukraine with military and economic support, including training and Leopard 2 tanks, and earlier pledged five Patriot PAC-2 missiles. Kyiv says it needs about 300 Patriot missiles ahead of expected Russian ballistic missile attacks this winter; reports say Western officials have urged Spain and Greece to donate some interceptors nearing the end of their shelf life.
