Speaking on the Momarchy Podcast, the actress said the show had already finished filming its final episodes before her pregnancy became public, and that the timing of the broadcast schedule simply created a false impression. The clarification matters because the rumour has persisted for years, shaping public narratives about her career and, more recently, resurfacing in comments aimed at her daughter online.

Spears explained that she became pregnant at 16, around the time the fourth and final season aired, but insisted production had wrapped and no further seasons were ever planned, regardless of her pregnancy. She noted that people outside the entertainment industry often misunderstand the gap between filming and broadcast, which fuelled the misconception. Spears added that her daughter, Maddie, frequently sees the claim repeated in TikTok comments, and the pair now joke about it together. Several Zoey 101 cast members, including Spears, later reunited for the 2023 sequel film Zoey 102.
