## Summary

Alexander Zverev swept Britain’s Arthur Fery aside 6-0 6-2 in 58 minutes to reach the Vienna Open semi-finals, as he prepares to rise to world number one. The result underlined the gap between the top seed and Fery, whose run to the quarter-finals echoed his surprise progress at Wimbledon.

Fery had received treatment for a leg problem during his previous match, while Zverev dropped only six points on serve and converted five of nine break points. The German is seeking his third title this year and will play Alex de Minaur or Matteo Berrettini next; the other semi-final is between Carlos Alcaraz and Daniil Medvedev, who qualified for the ATP Finals. In Tokyo, Elena Rybakina withdrew from her quarter-final with a neck injury, giving Leylah Fernandez a walkover.
