The fan uses a slow inner blade and faster outer blade to produce airflow Balmuda says is gentle and wide-ranging, rated at just 9 decibels on its lowest setting and effectively silent in a quiet room. It has been sold in Japan since 2010 as the "GreenFan Studio" but only arrived in the US in early June. Assembly is involved, taking around 20 minutes to attach metal blades, housing and tripod legs, and the wide tripod base requires roughly 3 square feet of floor space, which the reviewer found awkward to place.
