Muchova to miss Canadian Open after ‘small surgery’
Wimbledon finalist Karolina Muchova will miss the Canadian Open after undergoing what she described as "small surgery", ruling her out of her planned debut in Toronto. The 29-year-old Czech, who has previously struggled with wrist injuries, did not specify the nature of the procedure or give a precise return date, saying only that it would keep her off court for a few weeks while she recovers.
Muchova, ranked sixth in the world, lost a dramatic three-set Wimbledon final earlier this month to fellow Czech Linda Noskova, her second Grand Slam final defeat after also losing the 2023 French Open final to Iga Swiatek. The Canadian Open begins on 1 August, and Muchova said she was already working on her recovery with an eye on the US Open, which starts on 23 August.
