A former Sheffield Wednesday defender, Tom Lees, has joined one of the club’s South Yorkshire rivals on trial. The move is significant because it could give the experienced centre-back a route back into football locally after leaving Huddersfield Town.

Lees, 34, spent seven years with Wednesday between 2014 and 2021, making almost 250 league appearances and serving as captain. He then made more than 140 league appearances for Huddersfield before becoming available following the end of his contract.
