Timothée Chalamet said that the first album he bought was 50 Cent’s 2003 debut, *Get Rich or Die Tryin’*, despite its explicit-content label. He recalled persuading his mother to let him have it as a child, presenting the story as an early influence on his enthusiasm for rap music.

In an interview with *W Magazine*, Chalamet said he was around seven or eight when he chose the record at Tower Records in New York. His sister reportedly questioned whether their mother should allow the explicit version, but Chalamet later thanked her for doing so, saying he played 50 Cent records in his bedroom between the ages of seven and nine.
