Jemele Rhone has pleaded not guilty to murdering Shanice Brookes, who was fatally shot outside a Sheffield city-centre bar. The plea means the case will proceed towards trial, while the charge remains an allegation that Rhone denies.

Brookes, 30, was shot near the One Four One bar on West Street shortly before 2.45am on 25 May and was described by police as an innocent bystander. Rhone also denied wounding another person with intent and possessing criminal cash, but admitted possessing a handgun. He appeared by video link from prison; a trial is listed to begin on 18 January 2027.
