The Dance of the Dragons has increasingly turned dragons into strategic assets akin to weapons of mass destruction, with characters such as Rhaenyra Targaryen reluctant to engage rival dragons directly, making the prospect of additional beasts entering the fray significant for the story's trajectory.

Speaking to IGN, Condal declined to confirm or rule out appearances by dragons from Martin's Fire & Blood who have not yet featured on screen, including the fearsome Cannibal and the elusive Grey Ghost, both said to reside on Dragonstone. He noted that "there's a lot of runway left" in the series and that "more dragon cards" remain to be revealed, though he stopped short of guaranteeing specific creatures would appear, cautioning that assumptions are risky in this world.
