Liam Gallagher has told fans not to expect a new Oasis album any time soon, dampening speculation that had built since the band's 2024 reunion. The Britpop group last released a studio album in 2008 with 'Dig Out Your Soul', and although Gallagher had previously teased in 2024 that a follow-up was "in the bag", he later admitted this was a joke, and has now made clear the band prefers focusing on live performances rather than facing the pressure of new material.

Responding directly to a fan on social media who pleaded for new music, Gallagher said he was "not prepared for the criticism" if an album failed to meet impossibly high expectations, adding "let's just do some gigs and be happy". He also dismissed comments from the band's manager, Alex McKinlay, who said in 2025 there were "no plans for any new music", insisting that only he and brother Noel would decide Oasis's future. When asked what a new record might sound like, Gallagher said it would stay true to the band's classic sound rather than chase modern trends.
