The Toronto International Film Festival has unveiled its 2026 Gala and Special Presentations line-up, featuring films from nearly 30 countries and directors including Danny Boyle, Pedro Almodóvar, Chris Rock, Mike Leigh and Hirokazu Kore-eda. The announcement is one of the most closely watched moments in the festival calendar, as TIFF has historically served as a launchpad for awards-season contenders, including past Best Picture winner "Green Book".

Among the highlights are "I Play Rocky", a biographical drama about the making of Sylvester Stallone's 1976 film "Rocky", starring Anthony Ippolito and directed by Peter Farrelly, and "Misty Green", written, directed by and starring Chris Rock alongside Adam Driver, Daniel Kaluuya and Anna Kendrick. The 51st TIFF will run from 10-20 September in downtown Toronto, with the closing film confirmed as "Villeneuve: The Rise of a Legend", a sports drama about racing driver Gilles Villeneuve, screening on 19 September.
