Prime Video Officially Returns to Middle-earth With ‘The Rings of Power’ Season 3 Reveal

Collider · 23 hours ago

Prime Video has confirmed that "The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power" will return for its third season on 11 November, marking the prequel series' next instalment following its 2022 debut. To mark the announcement, Empire Magazine has released the first look image of Sauron, played by Charlie Vickers, alongside concept art depicting Gandalf confronting the fearsome Mûmak, created by artist Carlos Huante. The reveal comes amid a busy period for Tolkien adaptations, with the show already renewed for a fourth season expected in 2028.

The series sits alongside other upcoming Middle-earth projects, including the film "The Hunt for Gollum", directed by and starring Andy Serkis, which entered production last week and is slated for release on 17 December 2027. That film's cast includes Anya Taylor-Joy, Leo Woodall, Kate Winslet, Elijah Wood as Frodo, Lee Pace as Thranduil, Ian McKellen as Gandalf, and Jamie Dornan as Aragorn. Together, these releases signal a significant expansion of the franchise across streaming and cinema over the next two years.
