Brad Paisley defends marriage of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce: “One of the least pretentious weddings that I’ve ever seen or ever will see”

Country singer Brad Paisley has defended the wedding of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce, describing it as "one of the least pretentious weddings" he has ever attended, despite public criticism over its reported extravagance. Swift and the Kansas City Chiefs tight end married at Madison Square Garden earlier in July 2026, reportedly paying over $160,000 (£119,000) for the venue, with performances from Stevie Nicks and Paul McCartney, and Paisley was among roughly 1,000 guests present.

Paisley, who has known Swift for nearly two decades since inviting her to open his 2007 tour as a teenager, said the invitation told guests "if you're getting this, you mean a lot to us" and described a secretive build-up in which details were revealed gradually. Adam Sandler officiated the ceremony, while Swift's brother Austin served as "Man of Honour" and Travis's brother Jason Kelce was Best Man; other guests included Ed Sheeran, Selena Gomez, Gigi Hadid, Bradley Cooper and Graham Norton.
