PlaySide has delayed Game of Thrones: War for Westeros, its upcoming real-time strategy game for PC, from 2026 to early 2027. The developer said the extra time is intended to ensure the game meets the expectations of both strategy players and Game of Thrones fans, extending the wait for a major new adaptation of the franchise.

Announced in 2025, the game will let players lead the Starks, Targaryens, Lannisters or the Night King in a campaign to conquer the Seven Kingdoms, with both single-player and multiplayer modes planned. The delay comes as Warner Bros. Discovery has identified Game of Thrones as one of four key franchises for its games business, alongside Harry Potter, Mortal Kombat and DC.
