Tomahawk, the supergroup fronted by Mike Patton, played their first live show in 13 years on Saturday, kicking off a US tour alongside fellow rock veterans Melvins at Brooklyn Bowl in Nashville. The gig matters because the band had never toured behind their most recent album, 2021's Tonic Immobility, after the pandemic and Patton's mental health struggles previously prevented it, making this run a long-delayed return to the road for the group.

Tomahawk, which also features Duane Denison, John Stanier and Trevor Dunn, played an 18-song set including six live debuts drawn from Tonic Immobility, alongside material from their 2001 debut, Mit Gas and Oddfellows, plus a cover of Duane Eddy's "Stalkin'". Melvins followed with a 12-song set featuring a Rolling Stones cover, with Dunn joining them onstage for the closing number. The tour continues through cities including Dallas, Atlanta, Philadelphia and San Francisco before wrapping up in Los Angeles on 15th August.
