Marvel has released the first full trailer for "Avengers: Doomsday" alongside a poster that appears to hint at Doctor Doom's true motivation for threatening the multiverse. The poster shows Doom, his face hidden, standing mournfully before a large tapestry depicting a woman and child surrounded by clouds and angels, suggesting the villain is driven by grief and a desire for revenge rather than simple conquest, which reframes him as a tragic figure rather than a purely villainous one.

The imagery supports long-standing fan theories that Doom is mourning a wife and child killed as an unintended consequence of Steve Rogers' multiversal time-travel in the wake of "Avengers: Endgame", giving him cause to hunt down those responsible for meddling across realities. This would also draw a deliberate parallel with Iron Man's self-sacrifice for his family, with Doom instead willing to destroy the multiverse for his. The theory may also connect to Doom's evident interest in Franklin Richards, teased in "The Fantastic Four: First Steps", and is seen as an ominous sign given Steve Rogers is reportedly expecting a child. "Avengers: Doomsday" is due in cinemas on 18 December 2026.
