Tedeschi Trucks Band Cancel Newport Appearance After Susan Tedeschi Needs Surgery
The Tedeschi Trucks Band has cancelled two upcoming festival appearances to allow singer-guitarist Susan Tedeschi to undergo appendix surgery. Performances at FloydFest in Virginia and the Newport Folk Festival in Rhode Island, scheduled for this weekend, have been postponed following what Tedeschi described on social media as an appendix scare requiring immediate surgical intervention.
Tedeschi characterised the appendix removal as a common and necessary procedure to prevent complications, expressing regret about the inconvenience to fans and crew whilst emphasising the importance of addressing the issue promptly. The 12-member ensemble, currently touring in support of their March album "Future Soul," maintains scheduled performances at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado for late July and early August, with the band committing to rescheduling the cancelled festival dates once Tedeschi has recovered.
