‘The Kissing Booth’ Duo Tackling YA Rom-Com ‘Son Of The Mob’ For Red Sage Studios & Sun Distribution
Red Sage Studios, the young-adult-focused company founded by former Amazon MGM Studios International head James Farrell, has teamed with Sun Distribution (Telefilms Group) to develop a film adaptation of Gordon Korman's novel "Son of the Mob." The romantic comedy will be directed by Vince Marcello, who helmed Netflix's hit "Kissing Booth" trilogy, working from a script co-written with regular collaborator Jay Arnold. The project adds to a growing YA slate for Red Sage as it builds out its production and distribution pipeline.
"Son of the Mob" follows Vince, a mob boss's teenage son who wants a normal life but cannot shake his family's criminal ties, and who falls for the daughter of the FBI agent investigating his family. Production is set to take place in Canada with Vancouver's Brightlight Pictures. The announcement follows Red Sage and Sun Distribution's earlier partnership on an adaptation of Jessica Cunsolo's novel "She's with Me," and comes alongside other slate titles including "The Bridge Kingdom" and "Let's Play."
