Ryan Reynolds has confirmed that a fourth Deadpool film is officially in development, ending years of uncertainty over whether the franchise would continue. The actor made the announcement at Fanatics Fest, marking the first concrete update since 2024's Deadpool & Wolverine, after which Reynolds had previously expressed doubt about returning to the role and suggested he saw the character more as a supporting figure alongside the Avengers or X-Men than as a solo lead again.

The Deadpool franchise has grossed roughly $3 billion worldwide since its 2016 debut, which itself took $782.6 million on a $58 million budget. Deadpool 2 followed in 2018 with $786 million, before Deadpool & Wolverine became the series' biggest hit in 2024, earning nearly $1.4 billion to become the highest-grossing R-rated film ever. Reynolds gave no plot details for the new instalment but teased that it will draw on "really deep cuts" from the character's comic history not yet explored on screen.
