Apple TV has released a new seven-episode crime thriller titled 'Lucky,' with Anya Taylor-Joy playing the lead character. The story follows a woman who successfully executes a major heist with her husband, only to wake the next morning to find him vanished along with the stolen funds. Hunted simultaneously by federal law enforcement and a ruthless mob boss who happens to be her mother-in-law, the protagonist must use her intelligence and survival skills to evade capture from both sides.

Although the television adaptation uses a 2021 novel by Marissa Stapley as its jumping-off point, the series diverges significantly from the source material's narrative. While the core character identity and the heist scenario remain recognisable, the plot takes a substantially different direction after the initial theft. The original novel features a major storyline centred on a winning lottery ticket worth $390 million, a plot element the television version appears to abandon or substantially restructure.
