Deezer has announced that fully AI-generated tracks accounted for more than half of all daily song uploads on its platform for the first time, reaching a peak of over 50% in June 2026, equivalent to roughly 90,000 tracks. In response, the French streaming service is introducing tougher measures, pledging to remove any AI track suspected of involvement in streaming fraud, as well as AI tracks that have gone unstreamed for six months or more, as it seeks to protect artists' and songwriters' royalties.

The announcement builds on Deezer's ongoing AI-detection efforts, which began in January 2025 when AI-generated content made up just 10% of daily uploads; the company says it flagged more than 13.4 million fully AI-generated tracks in 2025 alone. Deezer has previously found that up to 85% of streams on fully AI tracks were fraudulent, and such manipulated streams are excluded from royalty payouts. Its detection system only identifies 100% AI-generated songs from tools such as Suno and Udio, not partially AI-assisted music, and flagged tracks are already excluded from algorithmic recommendations and editorial playlists. CEO Alexis Lanternier called it a "pivotal moment" and urged the industry to agree shared standards for a sustainable music ecosystem.
