Offset, the former Migos rapper, has been given 50 hours of community service instead of facing jail time after assaulting a security guard at a Los Angeles cannabis dispensary. A judge approved a diversion agreement that will see the criminal charge dismissed if he completes the community service, attends an anger management programme, and avoids further legal trouble over the next 12 months.

The incident took place in March 2025 near LAX airport, when Offset reportedly refused to show identification and punched guard Jim Leobardo Sanchez in the face after being asked again; he then fled after being pepper-sprayed. Sanchez has separately filed a civil lawsuit claiming lasting injuries, with a hearing set for 5 August, while prosecutors had opposed leniency, calling it a "crime of violence." The judge extended Offset's requested six-month diversion period to a full year; he did not attend last week's hearing.
