New UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham has reshuffled his cabinet but kept Lisa Nandy in place as Culture Secretary, making her one of the longest-serving holders of the role in a post that has seen frequent turnover. Nandy, MP for Wigan since 2010, was appointed Culture Secretary by Keir Starmer in July 2024 and is now the 12th person to hold the post in under as many years, having previously served as shadow minister for international development and housing. She is currently overseeing the BBC's royal charter renewal and funding model, considering intervention in the Paramount/Warner Bros. Discovery merger's UK arm, and monitoring Comcast-owned Sky's acquisition of ITV as well as the sale of ITV Studios. Separately, Burnham appointed Kanishka Narayan, MP for Vale of Glamorgan, as the UK's first dedicated AI minister, a joint role spanning the Cabinet Office and the Department for Business, Innovation, Science and Trade.
