Sir Paul McCartney made an unexpected appearance on Liverpool's Magical Mystery Tour bus route on 20 July, delighting fans when he was spotted waving at traffic lights on Hope Street. The moment added an extra thrill to the popular tourist attraction, which takes visitors around key locations from The Beatles' history, and comes as McCartney continues to make headlines alongside surviving bandmate Ringo Starr following their recent musical reunion.

Tour driver Neal Morton told the BBC it was "surreal" to see McCartney, who not only waved to passengers but revealed he was on a FaceTime call with Starr at the time, prompting passengers to take photographs. McCartney was in the city ahead of presenting actor Stephen Graham with an honour from the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts, which he co-founded. The sighting follows the pair's first-ever duet, featured on McCartney's new album The Boys of Dungeon Lane, released in May.
