Chicago-raised, Los Angeles-based artist megiapa has announced her new album 'Intentions', due for release via International Anthem on 25th September. The record is being introduced with the lead single 'Open Your Eyes', a self-directed video release that blends alt-R&B with spoken word over Madlib-influenced production.

Megiapa began making beats on Audacity, drawing on Los Angeles's Low End Theory scene before immersing herself in Chicago's experimental music circuit, where she opened for artists including Makaya McCraven, Bottle Tree and Ben LaMar Gay. Work on the album started with support from a grant from Chicago's Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events, and she completed it after relocating to Los Angeles, a move she says helped unlock the record creatively.
