Directors Guild Frames Its 2027 DGA Awards Timeline
The Directors Guild of America has confirmed the full timeline for its 2027 awards season, setting out nomination and voting dates ahead of the 79th annual DGA Awards ceremony. The announcement matters as it kicks off the formal start of Hollywood's guild awards calendar, giving members and industry watchers a clear schedule for one of the key precursors to the Oscars.
Nominations for television and commercials will be announced on 6 January, followed by film nominations on 7 January, with the ceremony itself taking place on 30 January at the Beverly Hilton. Online nomination voting opens on 14 December and closes on 4 January for TV and adverts, and 6 January for motion pictures, after which members will vote on winners across categories including Theatrical Feature Film, Television, Commercials, Documentary and First-Time Feature Film until 29 January. Last year's DGA winners included Paul Thomas Anderson for One Battle After Another, who went on to win the Best Director Oscar, alongside television prizes for The Studio, The Pitt and Dying for Sex.
