Dog Date Return With New Surprise Album Perfectly
New York garage-punk act Dog Date have released a surprise new album, Perfectly, roughly a year after frontman Dylan Kennedy announced the band's breakup on Instagram. The unexpected return highlights how the project has shifted shape again, going from a solo endeavour to a full band and now apparently back to a one-man effort, while keeping its raw, high-energy sound intact.
The eight-track, 15-minute record appeared on Bandcamp with only a cryptic Instagram post as warning. According to its Bandcamp description, Kennedy wrote, recorded and performed the entire album himself, despite songs that sound as though they were captured live by a full band. Dog Date began in 2015 as Kennedy's solo project before expanding into a double-drummer lineup for 2024's Zinger; Perfectly is out now as a self-released title.
