2026 Midyear Record Label Market Share: REPUBLIC, Interscope Surge Back; Atlantic, Columbia Stay Hot
Universal Music Group's REPUBLIC and Interscope Geffen A&M labels rebounded strongly in the second quarter of 2026 after both had slipped below usual levels in Q1, according to Billboard's midyear market share analysis based on Luminate data. REPUBLIC's recovery was driven by two of the quarter's biggest albums, Drake's ICEMAN and Noah Kahan's The Great Divide, while Interscope benefited from a strong debut by Olivia Rodrigo, helping parent company UMG lift its overall current market share to 32.44%, still ahead of Sony Music and Warner Music Group.
REPUBLIC posted an 11.43% current share, the largest of any label, while Atlantic Music Group held second place at 8.50% and Interscope recovered to third at 8.14%. Columbia climbed to fourth (5.40%) on the strength of Ella Langley's album and Hot 100 hit "Choosin' Texas", pushing Warner Records down to fifth (5.11%). At group level, UMG's 32.44% share led Sony (27.41%) and Warner (17.10%), while independent labels collectively reached a record 43.79% share by label ownership, underlining the continued rise of the indie sector.
