Universal Pictures has confirmed "Snoop," a biopic charting the life of rapper and entertainment mogul Snoop Dogg, will open in cinemas on 6 August 2027. The R-rated film stars "Outer Banks" actor Jonathan Daviss in the title role and is billed by the studio as the definitive account of Snoop's rise as an artist, businessman and icon of gangsta rap, and it marks the first release under Universal's overall deal with the rapper's own Death Row Pictures label.

The film is directed by Craig Brewer ("Hustle & Flow") and will draw on Snoop's extensive catalogue, including tracks such as "Drop It Like It's Hot," "Gin and Juice" and "Nuthin' but a 'G' Thang." It is set to open the same weekend as Disney's "The Bluey Movie" and Black Bear's "Jason Statham Stole My Bike." Brian Grazer of Imagine Entertainment and Death Row Pictures president Sara Ramaker are producing alongside Snoop Dogg himself, with production expected to begin in summer 2026. Plot specifics remain unconfirmed, so it is still unclear whether the film will span his entire career or focus on a single chapter; Universal first announced the project back in 2022.
