Universal Pictures has confirmed that its long-awaited Snoop Dogg biopic, titled "Snoop," will be released in US cinemas on 6 August 2027. The R-rated film aims to be the "definitive biopic" of the rapper, born Calvin Broadus, and follows in the tradition of Universal's other hip-hop-focused films such as Straight Outta Compton and 8 Mile, cementing Snoop Dogg's status alongside figures like 2Pac and The Notorious B.I.G. who have also been the subject of biographical films.

Outer Banks actor Jonathan Daviss has been cast to play the Death Row Records icon, with Hustle & Flow director Craig Brewer at the helm. It remains unclear whether the film will cover Snoop Dogg's entire life or focus on a specific era. The 54-year-old first announced the project at CinemaCon in April, and remains prolific, having recently released "Me N the Boyz" with Kurupt and DJ Battlecat and having notched 45 Billboard Hot 100 entries throughout his career, including the number one hit "Drop It Like It's Hot."
